It was easy to read from the clear screen and navigate through the device, though the missing item was the Task Manager drop-down menu which would enable you to kill off any applications which you think you may have closed but hasn't been closed. Overall, the design was very good.
The speakerphone is average and couldn't be used outdoors if there was plenty of background sound. Call quality is above average, though reception could go down in particular areas. The best feature of Windows Mobile, as always was the call history log. Battery life, at 6 hours talk time, was quite good and better than most of its peers.
Messaging is very good on the HTC Mogul (except for the lack of a program for Yahoo and AIM users). E-mail was easy to set up. In case you don't really know how setup Outlook, the Mogul will go online and get you all those setup profiles you will need. Overall, typing was comfortable on the Mogul.
The scheduling and productivity part of the phone is very good, though there was a lag in performance. There were even situations where there were a number of apps running but none open. There was also a lag in rotating the screen when the keyboard was slid out.
Though the calendar could use a face lift, you can't begrudge the way it works perfectly with Outlook. Office Mobile is present, which is also useful. The HTC Mogul does quite well when used as a modem for the computer. It even recharges when you connect it to the PC, which is a nice feature to have.
Internet Explorer is quite a good web browser and didn't show up any problems loading pages. However, it doesn't load flash items which are a bit of a disappointment. It was when we were navigating through the internet that we saw the usefulness of the click wheel.
It is nice to have A2DP for stereo Bluetooth, and a mini-USB to 2.5mm adapter, although a 3.5mm would have been better. The phone doesn't have GPS, however, which is quite disappointing. The phone comes with a 2 megapixel camera, which might come in handy for the once-in-a-while shot.
Considering all the features, the HTC mogul gives much value for its price point.
